Paul Wagner - GONE FISHING. Hard Work, Dedication, Persistence

12 Dec 2023 by Bret Straffon

Michigan Nation,
Most of you know or have spoken with Paul Wagner. This past Sunday, with little crack in his voice, and maybe a little tear in his eyes, Paul officially retired from the MBN Board.

Paul has been invaluable to MBN and the B.A.S.S. fishing community for the past 11 years holding various board positions. Most notably, Paul has been our Membership Director and mastered the process seamlessly for our Club’s and Member’s. He spent a lot of time helping MBN digitize our processes, always happy to help, and share his experience on why we need to do things the way we do.

There is a lot of hard work, dedication, and persistence that Paul brought to every MBN season. He is “The Guy” that a lot of us leaned on with last minute….“hey Paul?” questions and he always provided an answer no matter how many times he was asked. – He is “The Guy” that kept and maintained our tournament trailers over the years spending countless hours tweaking things to make a better experience for all of us. He is also “The Guy” that has always been running the weigh-in during our Team Trail, State Championship, and Senior Series. A lot of people don’t know – the person on the computer is really the person who runs the weigh-in. It’s not the person with the mic or the weighmaster. Paul is also “The Guy” that did a lot of the “somebody should do X” tasks that a lot of us say, but don’t want to execute the X.

Paul’s influence will be missed, but what we will really miss is his dedication to doing the very best a person can for the benefit of others.

Paul along with Larry Gargus will keep running our very successful Senior Series. He will also continue hosting the Veteran’s Tournament on Kent Lake and the Dearborn Firefighter’s Tournament on Lake Saint Clair.

If you see Paul on the water or at the boat ramp, give him a wave and say “Thanks!” He will be the guy throwing a red spinnerbait.
