A great honor will be bestowed upon Ron Spitler when he is posthumously inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame this Sunday (January 12, 2025) at 1:00 pm at the Ultimate Fishing Show in Novi, Michigan. Ron, a member of the federation since 1975 was in the Michigan Bass Busters Club and also served on the MBN Board of Directors from 1997 to 2004. Prior to his retirement in 1998, Ron was a fisheries biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) for 31 years. After his retirement, Ron did not rest but rather worked closely with the MDNR and the bass fishing community to address the Largemouth Bass Virus outbreak in Michigan and the closure of public access boat ramps by lakefront property owners.
